Curcumin is well known for its medicinal and therapeutic properties such as antibacterial, antitumor and antioxidant. Note the fibre's vibrant yellow hue which is due to the bioactive yellow pigment from curcumin with the following structure; 1,7-bis(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)-1,6-heptadiene-3,5-dione.

Abstract: New generation medical textiles are an important growing field with great expansion in wound management products. Textile structures used for modern wound dressings are of large variety: sliver, yarn, woven, non-woven, knitted, crochet, braided, embroidered, composite materials. Specialized additives with special functions can be introduced in advanced wound dressings with the aim to absorb odours, provide strong antibacterial properties, smooth pain and relieve irritation.
