Bio

Sharifah Imihezri is presently a lecturer at the Department of Manufacturing and Materials Engineering, International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). She received her Engineering (Mechanical) degree from University Tenaga Nasional, Malaysia and MSc from University Putra Malaysia. Upon joining IIUM, she received a scholarship to pursue her PhD in Mechanical, Manufacturing and Materials Engineering at the University of Nottingham, UK in 2008. Back then, her main focus of study was on the production of biodegradable phosphate-based glasses compositions. Over time, her research interest has expanded on polymer based biomaterials, environmentally friendly waxes and 3D printing.

Sharifah is also passionate about preservation and conservation activities, particularly in Malay traditional heritage and craft. Her love for science, art, and heritage, have culminated into her current research work - finding alternative means in managing a more sustainable Batik production. Additionally, she is also working on developing a framework for sustainable 3D printing collaboratively with Dr. Aida Kesuma from the Kuliyyah of Architecture, IIUM. You are welcome to contact her at shaimihezri@iium.edu.my.
